Gould’s monitors are reptiles found in New Guinea and Australia.
The Gould’s monitor is one of the largest monitors in Australia. It grows to 75-100 centimeters (30-39 inches) long. Its body is slim but strong. The monitor uses its tail to help stand on its hind legs. From there it can survey its surroundings.
The Gould’s monitor eats mammals and birds. It also eats carrion, or dead animals.

The Gould’s monitor is well camouflaged against desert rock.
