Tapirs are large mammals found in South and Central America and Southeast Asia. They live on the forest floor.

Tapirs are medium-sized, pig-like animals with a smooth coat and a streamlined shape. Their shape lets them move easily through dense rain forest undergrowth.
Tapirs have an excellent sense of smell. Their nostrils are at the end of their trunk-like nose and help them locate food on the forest floor. This nose also helps tapirs hide from predators. They can hide underwater with only their trunk sticking out, and breathe through it like a snorkel.
